Intellispring is planning a major push to deploy small cells across its network next year after exhaustive push training and tests to ensure RF engineering teams are up to speed with latest technology standards from vendors such as Alcatel Lucent and Ericsson.
Service Providers have committed to deploying more than 40,000 low-power small cells by the end of 2015 as part of Project Velocity IP (VIP), a multibillion-dollar overhaul program for both its wireless and wired networks. The carrier is now at the point where it is confident that it can begin widely deploying both HSPA+ and LTE small cells in 2014. Small cells help meet Service Providers customers’ explosive demand for mobile data. Over the last six years, mobile data traffic on AT&T’s network has increased more than 30,000% (2010-2012). AT&T and Verizon have been internally testing and planning a nationwide small cell deployment for year.
